A Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up Like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode? I decided to write a transparent post today to express how meh and stagnant I've been feeling lately. I say it every year, but I feel like this year really flew by man. There are literally 2 months left in 2019 and I'm looking back over the past 10 months questioning what I did with my time and if I made any significant progress from the year before. Since leaving Mississippi in 2014 I've lived in 4 different states navigating on a "journey" to discover my purpose. Sometimes I just sit and think about all the years I was living my life under the influence of others including my parents. It's like you get prepped when you're younger for this ideal life, only to realize later i

Tassili's Raw Reality Cafe

Another one for the books! Since my diet has become more plant based, I've been experimenting and trying out more vegan and vegetarian spots around Atlanta. Tassili's  Raw Reality Cafe was yet another restaurant that was highly ranked and recommended. I read reviews and heard from some people that the food was bomb!! I'm always skeptical when something is over hyped, but I tried Tassili's out for myself and I thought the food was delicious! Like the name reads, the foods served at the restaurant are raw. The business specializes and is known for their kale, especially the wraps. I eat kale all the time but the kale at this place is none like I have ever tasted! It is amazing! Tassili's is located in the historic west end area of ATL. The restaurant which is an exotic looking house is a vibe in itself. The exterior of the place matches the interior. I've been there a few times and the energy is always the same; good music and a friendly staff t

Viva La Vegan

I said I would keep y'all posted on my food escapades in the ATL, soooooo another place that I recommend and have been to a few times is Viva La Vegan . This spot is another restaurant that was highly ranked in Atlanta. The food served is all vegan but don't let that OR the building itself scare you away from visiting. The food that I tried was pretty good and this is coming from someone who isn't a vegan. I eat a majority plant based diet, but I'm not a full out vegan, and I do occasionally eat seafood and some turkey products. I have to emphasize that because you don't have to be a vegan to enjoy the food. I wouldn't say it's necessarily the healthiest because a lot of the items are fried. I would categorize the menu as "comfort food." I've had the shrimp poboy, fish poyboy, pea burger, bbq bacon burger, kale salad, dill fries, and sweet potato fries. I also had a small piece of my sister's strawberry oreo cheesecake but it wasn&#

Local Green Atlanta

At the beginning of the year I moved to ATL. YES, I moved again lol! I'm going to write a post soon about my journey up to this point since I've been MIA for nearly two years on the blog. So far I'm loving Atlanta; the culture, the history, the entertainment, and especially the food 😋! I want to start blogging more about the places and events that I go when I'm out and about. Atlanta has soooooo many food spots, so I've been making my rounds slowly checking them out.  Local Green Atlanta is a black owned restaurant on the westside that I visited recently. It was listed as one of Atlanta's highest ranking black owned restaurants. The restaurant promotes a healthier lifestyle hence the name "local green." Their menu offers vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian food choices. I read up on a little history about the new spot which was previously a food truck. The owner is Big Zak, a hip hop vet in ATL. At one point he was overweight but made a

Millennium Tour 2019

Hey y'all! I've been gone for a minute but I'm BAAAACK!  Seeing that I wrote my last post back in 2017 😲 .... I have decided that I'm going to stop setting a goal to be more consistent with posting on this blog. LOL! I'll just drop a line when I can. I might finally start vlogging, who knows. "My 2 Cents and a Biscuit" will always be my baby though because it was a way to keep my love for writing alive once I finished school and joined the daily 8 to 5 grind. I'll talk about how the working grind can make us lose our passions in a later post though. Today I want to talk about The Millennium Tour!! Sooo it was announced at the end of last year that the Millennium Tour was happening. When I saw the line-up my adrenaline started rushing! These were artists that practically made up the soundtrack to some of my high school and early college years. B2K, Mario, Pretty Ricky, Chingy, Lloyd, Bobby Valentino, and the Ying Yang Twins all on one s
