Yonce Taught Me

had to write a piece to give props to Mrs. Carter. I want to make it clear that I AM NOT a Beystan so I’m writing this without being bias. I’m not in love with Beyonce nor do I dislike her. I like a lot of her music and I’ve seen her in concert twice. I don’t think she is the greatest singer or dancer of all time, but I think she is a very talented artist that has mastered the art of entertaining. One thing that I admire the most about Bey is her work ethic. She has been on her grind in the music industry since she was a kid, and she doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon. I feel like these past 3 years have been a Beyonce takeover. From her having a baby, to endorsement deals, going on back to back tours, performing at the superbowl and award shows, and dropping a surprise album. She isn't giving her competition or her fans a chance to breathe but can you blame her? She is living in her moment.  Bey definitely has worked extremely hard to get to where she is today. I remember her saying in an interview  a  few years back that she wanted to be able to retire by the time she was 30. Now at the age of 33 she is probably one of the most famous entertainers in the world. I would classify her as my generation’s Tina Turner.

"This goes out to all the women getting it in,
You're on your grind
To other men that respect what I do
Please accept my shine
Boy I know you love it
How we're smart enough to make these millions
Strong enough to bear the children
Then get back to business"
~ Beyonce (Run the World)

I think she is a great example of how hard work and dedication can help you achieve success. People love to give her hell about being over sexualized and how she isn’t a role model to the youth, but her job is to entertain and when it’s all said and done she can twerk on stage but at the end of the day she is going home to a husband not a baby daddy or a boyfriend. I actually think the youth and a lot of older adults can take some notes from Mrs. Carter.  This is a woman that took dedication and drive and honed her talent to reach a level of success. She established herself first and got married to a man who was equally established. They built a friendship and a partnership, and then they had a child together. From one woman to another I salute her and I’m not mad at her at all.  I see you King Bey ;-)

Beyonce talks to Oprah about how she worked extremely hard to get to where she is and how she established herself first before she got married.

If this Beyonce dance routine doesn't make you just want to grab your heels and run to the dance floor!!

  1. You always have to respect and admire success at least when it is obtained the right way. Beyonce is the superstar female entertainer of this generation like janet jackson of the 80s and 90s. I think she is too provocative because rihanna has had a little more individual success recently and she feels she has too be more provocative to keep up. I admire the empire she and jay-z have created and I think she is a big reason Jay-Z is still as relevant as he is in mainstream music. I also think their relationship was for a time more about business but over time they have grown to love each other more and settled down. I wish they would do more for the less fortunate.

    1. A lot of people say she is becoming more provocative to keep up with the competition but i don't think it has anything to do with that. Beyonce is a brand and she has billions of fans worldwide. She can pretty much put out anything or say anything and her fans will support her. At this point in her career I don't think she is going to fall of.... at least anytime soon. She really has no one to compete with at her level besides Rihanna. I think her being more provocative is just her way of being free and having no limitations. She has always been pretty guarded in terms of what she says or does and now I think she is really doing what she wants. I don't know how much she does for the less fortunate but I know she is involved with charities.

  2. I'm am not a fan or hater of her or her music i am neutral. Me personally when she give a live performance i like to watch her do her thing but recently i think it is the same act over and over with a slightly different theme. i kinda knock her for do songs like bow down and talking about taking facials when she is a mother and susposely a individual of class and respect. But at the end of the day all these people will do whatever makes them money. I applaud her for her work-ethic and her business savvy i just dont want to hear her talking about her sexual encounters i think that is distaste for a woman that is a mother and a role model to do.

Is Cheating Inevitable?

When most people think about what it means to cheat in a relationship, they automatically think about having sex with another person outside their relationship; but cheating is so much more than just sex. Have you ever made a strong connection with another person while you were in a relationship to the point that you thought about that person frequently and started to develop feelings for that person? What if it got to the point where you started to lose interest in the person with whom you were in a relationship? Have you ever texted or talked on the phone with someone you were attracted to, someone unknown to your man or woman? A lot of people say they have control over how far they will allow a situation to go, but eventually after spending so much time with another person to whom you are attracted and with whom you have a connection, emotions tend to get involved. I think developing a strong emotional relationship with anot

Dreams..........

One of my old classmates reached out to me in November and asked me to check out a track called "Dreams." I didn’t get a chance to listen to it until mid-December, but I must say when I finally heard the song I was impressed. Anyone who knows me well knows that I’m an avid music lover, especially when the music has meaning. "Dreams" is without a doubt a song with substance; it definitely speaks to the mind of the conscious thinker. The song sheds light on certain taboo issues in the black community, issues people are reluctant to address. These issues include the constant occurrence of senseless violence and people’s lack of morals and priorities. The verse below which is actually one of my favorite verses on the track speaks on one of those issues: “We conditioned to the violence…… black and brown riots, to the point that our alliance follows moments of silence, and it’s sad that the people never see the evil…….. so long as the Gucci belt mat

12 Play (Part 2)

*Be sure to read 12 play part 1 before proceeding with part 2*   I got up, turned around, and to my surprise there were two heads staring back at me.   He was butt ass naked! When I say naked, I mean literally “buckey naked”! I was a bit startled.   How in the hell did he manage to slip off his clothes without me knowing. It was like the man was a magician because his clothes vanished into thin air. He seemed surprised at my response and irritated.             “ Look baby, what’s the problem ?” “ We’re both into it so let’s just finish what we started. You can’t tell me you weren’t into it!” He started to walk back towards me while I was still sitting on the bed.             “ Look, you and your friend (I pointed down to the center of his waist) need to stay against that wall.”   By this time he was becoming agitated….. “ Baby, we’re both grown and we know what we want … I’m not going to judge you or look at you like a hoe…… you’re just a grown woman that knows wha
